Are SSRI Drugs Like Paxil, Zoloft and Celexa Causing Autism?

If a loved one has taken an antidepressant medication that you believe may be connected to you or your child developing autism, compensation may be available.

Studies linking SSRIs to Autism

"The authors observed about a 50% increased risk of autism associated with antidepressant use across the main regression analysis and the three refined analyses, although as sample sizes declined in some of the more refined analyses"

Antidepressant Use During Pregnancy and the Risk of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Children.

Use of antidepressants, specifically selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, during the second and/or third trimester increases the risk of ASD in children, even after considering maternal depression. Further research is needed to specifically assess the risk of ASD associated with antidepressant types and dosages during pregnancy.

Study points to link between antidepressant use in pregnancy and autism in children

Children exposed to antidepressants during pregnancy seem to be at a slightly higher risk of autism than children of mothers with psychiatric disorders who were not treated with antidepressants during pregnancy, finds a study published in The BMJ today.
